LEICESTER SOCIETY OF ARTISTS LITTLE SELVES EXHIBITION NEW WALK MUSEUM AND ART GALLERY 24 MARCH – 25 JUNE 2017.
“We all like to look at pictures of other people and of ourselves,’’ said Lars Tharp, President of Leicester Society of Artists, as he introduced the Society’s Little Selves exhibition of miniature portraits at Leicester New Walk Museum and Art Gallery, sponsored by Arts Council England.
He commented that today’s selfies are the modern equivalent of miniatures from the past and he praised the high standard of work submitted for the exhibition by art students from eight schools and colleges throughout Leicester and Leicestershire and Rutland, who contributed 60 items in the show.
Also included in the exhibition total of 141 works are miniatures from the Museum’s own collection, work by LSA members and guest artists Satta Hashem, Michael Gaskell, Paul Wright and photographer Paul O’Leary..
